SUMMERFEST GLASGOW 2008
Looking forward to the River Festival!
I hope the weather is good and sunny!!!
XXX.
I hope I am home in time for the festival.
I just want to get home for any festival
Home is just Brilliant :-)
Anyone going home to Glagow this year - Have a GREAT time

The mela was a disgrace yesterday: little to do with Asian culture and more to do with making money for fairground rides.
Since moving from Queens park a few years ago it has steadily went down hill and the cultural element of the event is now a bit part as opposed to being the focal point of the event as it once was. The now reduced cultural stage was pathetic and the main stage was very demoralising. The organisers should take a step back and ask what the purpose of the Mela is as it seems they are hell bent on turning it into a mockery of what used to be an excellent event on a number of levels.
Hi - I heard there was going to be a south side festival but can't see it here.
Can you help please?
Pure Dead Brilliant!!!

Pure brilliant Glasgow, see you in the summer on my hols!!!

The city of Glasgow has announced that it will be officially getting the summer underway this year with the Maydaze festival.
Held on 4 May, this event will bring a range of entertainment, exhibitions and shows to the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow.
Heading the live music programme will be Dougie Maclean, a singer-songwriter who turned himself into something of a celebrity when he wrote Caledonia.
Also on the bill will be such eclectic acts as La Sonera Calaveras, a Cuban and Latin-inspired group, and traditional artists Arthur Johnstone and Gordeanna McCulloch.
The Maydaze festival will include a MaySpace area, hosted by Radio Clyde's Romeo, where visitors will be able to attend interactive dance and martial arts workshops or take part in African drumming sessions.
People interested in learning more about Glasgow's history can do so at a themed exhibition, while those with young children can enjoy art and crafts classes.
Thanks, I've been looking for a one-stop guide to Glasgow's festivals for ages and have just found it!
Pity it took so long though, but better late than never!

Welcome to the GSF Guestbook... please post messages about the festivals in Glasgow Summerfest, or ask a question about the site, or anything about the festivals in Glasgow during the summer.
GG.
