Festival Summary
Pipe bands from all over the world make daily performances in Glasgow city centre over the course of the annual Piping Live event. Free concerts in Glasgow's premier civic space, George Square, are the focal-point of the week-long programme of piping and pipe-related events throughout the city. The very best in Scottish and world piping talent perform at this great, typically Scottish event, while daily tutorials and workshops offer opportunities to discover for yourself the secrets of the Scottish bag pipe – the uniquely Scottish musical instrument. In addition there are:
- free tryout sessions
- cafe pipe jamming events and demonstrations
- an international piping forum
- daily recitals
- international piping lectures and tutorials
- a Piping Live festival Club
- he World Solo Amateur Piping Competition, and
- the highly-popular Pipe Idol competition.
If you can't make it in 2008 then why not plan ahead?
