Festival Summary

The Mela (meaning 'gathering' in Sanskrit) is managed and run by the The Scottish Academy of Asian Arts and is a high profile multicultural music and dance festival for Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

The festival is based on the traditions of the Indian Sub-continent. Set up in 1990 when Glasgow was European City of Culture, the Mela has grown from being an indoor event at the Tramway Theatre to an outdoor extravaganza with up to 50,000 people attending.

Kelvingrove Park, enter by Parkgrove Terrace.


How to get there?

Road:
Kelvingrove Park is in Glasgow's West End area and lies 3km (2 miles) northwest of city centre, off the A82.


How much does it cost

Prices are yet to be confirmed, but no admission fee is expected to be charged.
