Festival Summary

The fantastic Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free annual architectural event. The innovative event is managed by the Scottish Civic Trust and supported by Historic Scotland.

Doors Open Days started in Glasgow in 1990 where it was part of the European City of Culture celebrations. The success of the event encouraged other areas to participate over subsequent years and is now firmly established in almost every area of Scotland. More than 800 buildings are expected to open, inviting up to 250,000 visits to buildings and hidden architectural masterpieces of every variety all over Scotland.

The event brings together diverse communities in celebration of the fascinating architecture which surrounds us and the stories that these buildings have to tell.
